A person can be electrocuted while taking a bath if he or she touches a poorly insulated light switch.?

Why is the electric shock received under these conditions so much more dangerous than usual?

(This question came out of my book.)A person can be electrocuted while taking a bath if he or she touches a poorly insulated light switch.?
I think water you know that the tap wtaer is hard water i.e it contains excess of Ca++ ions and also the water is made up up of h20 which is ionic in nature and now the the original part when the person touches the switch cause the person is covered all of his body with hard water which is a 98.456% conductor of electricity he gets a svere shock also you should be knowing humanbody is also a conductor of electricity blood is acetic so both media media make good conductors of electricity and no obstruction is observed. In this way the person may also die.

so always when working with electricity wear rubber slippers which are insulators (dont conduct current).

GO ON KEEP ASKINGA person can be electrocuted while taking a bath if he or she touches a poorly insulated light switch.?
yes.....a person gets electocuted. this is bcoz the water acts as a conducting medium between body of the person and the electric source.
Yes, there have been a lot of cases of electrocution while in a bath. Two reasons: (a) the person in a bath cannot move out of it by reflex and thus gets the full jolt. If you are out of water and touch a live wire, your body jerks back by reflex, so you can survive. But inside water, its difficult to move, so there are more fatalities. (b) if there is bath soap or shampoo in the water, it may have loose ions, and make the water a better electric conducter.
The soap in bath water acts as an eletrolyte which helps conduct electricity.
I have no idea why it is much more dangerous than usual but on mythbusters I saw them try to to electrocute a dummy taking a shower inside a house with artificial lighting.

They had some amount of water flowing under his feet so he gets grounded. (the dummy didn't have feet but they managed it anyway)

That might relate to your question.
